Hong Kong to see 334 hotels in five years
There are currently 315 hotels with 86,967 keys.
Hong Kong’s hotel supply is expected to grow from 315 hotels with 86,967 keys today to 334 hotels with 92,634 keys by 2026. The city also has 1,406 guesthouses with 11,869 rooms.
According to Colliers, Tsim Sha Tsui has the largest supply with 60 hotels and over 18,200 keys. Combined with Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok, the total increases to 106 hotels with 25,600 keys in this core Kowloon area. Central and Wan Chai have 56 and 54 hotels, respectively, while the New Territories has 33 hotels with 16,259 rooms.
Despite COVID-19 there have been over 10 new hotel openings in 2020 and 2021, with more hotels coming onstream in 2022 and beyond.
Quarantine hotels account for 12.7% of hotel supply and 13% of room supply (1 Dec 2021 – 28 Feb 2022).
